They help in keeping the birds warm,look beautiful with their color variations, help in their flight, are used for communication and keeping them dry.To humans, they are considered auspicious if you coincidentally see them,inauspicous if you step on them,used for making many medicines and when stuffed in pillows, quilts and winter clothing, keep us warm.They were used as writing pens,quills and are the source of many folklore.Dress designers love them and interior decorators use them on whim.
