Getting used to.

Getting used to the Sun rising,
from behind buildings, instead of mountains.
Getting used to the Moonshine,
having to compete with the bright lights.

Learning to like the concrete jungles,
Instead of the hills and lakes.
Learning to love the patch of green,
amongst the high-rises, instead of endless span of trees.

Adapting to breathe in air, less clean,
than the one we took for granted.
Adapting to survive life and its surprises,
learning, getting used to, as each day passes.

Gemstones.

Fireflies of sunshine shimmering atop hills of Jade.
Or are they gentle Emerald waves, in which the boats swayed.

Turquoise of sky spreading blue in the ocean,
Sapphire waves reflecting, hide and seek in motion.

If only the arch were a ring and water could be carved.
What a brilliant gemstone ring nature could have served.

Temporary ripples.

Sometimes, the pain gets excruciating,
emptying the lungs off all the air,
leaving us gasping for survival.

The heart ache so acute,
that it renders the body invalid,
crawling to get through the days.

Hope is lost,
happiness becomes just a word,
the world seems to be like a sinking ship.

But, it's just a phase, rest assured,

You will breathe again,
you will get up and walk again,
you will swim to the shore, in one piece.

For life is life,

It flows, like a river,
nothing is permanent or stagnant,
be it pain or pleasure.
