Window to the soul.

Eyes are the windows to the soul.
People learn to control their emotions as they grow older and mature. Different experiences of their lives teach them to keep their feelings, language, behavior and facial expressions in check yet one look at the eyes and the beans are spilled.

How difficult it is, to camouflage the laughter that does not reach the eyes. The pain that reflects in the eyes. The joy which spills from the eyes. The desire which burns in the eyes. The maturity and knowledge obvious in the eyes that demands respect.

Hate someone and no degree of politeness can mask the hatred in the eyes, love someone and nothing in the world can mask the way you look at “The One”.

Journey-3

Everyone has some skills. Some people realize about the gifts they have and try to harness them into powerful tools of survival. Some use their skills to become rich, some to become famous, some to achieve great heights with respect to being known as an unforgettable person, even if it is amongst his or her own family and friends.

Some use their skills to attain peace of mind and fulfillment in life through integrity. Every ordinary person has the power and ability to achieve greatness only if they are willing to do so or inclined to do so. People forget while living their lives what they liked as kids but these likings are what a grownup’s hobbies are. I stumbled upon two people who enjoy photography and requested them to be guest artists on the blog. The result was the “illumination” series and “Vibrant India” series.

The illumination series features photographs of candles and Sunrise. They are right now featured as a header. This series is by Amit Sharma.

Vibrant India series featured the photographs of  some of the art forms and crafts of India. The colorful photographs attracted a lot of  positive attention. This series is by Zubin Oommen Ittyerah.

Looking forward to featuring more guest artists with their photographs, sketches, paintings, writings or whatever they consider close to their hearts and an expression  and source of unbridled joy.

Journey-2

The first thing I learnt from veteran bloggers was "never give up" and "maintain a steady posting  rate". I tried to maintain it and the traffic started increasing. It was very encouraging to see people from many countries checking the blog. Being a color lover my sketches started becoming more colorful and some of them attracted the attention of friends who wanted to adorn their walls with the artwork.

Made a few more artworks with colors being the main focus,

In free hand sketching the flow that comes most naturally is the shape of a leaf and many similar artworks got made without my noticing them.
I was asked to stop making leaves and I made a few abstracts.

The thing about a diverse audience is that people of all tastes express their ideas and no two beings being same, the opinions are poles apart. Some people loved the abstracts while others wanted to see compositions. So I decided to sit down patiently and give the artwork some time. The result was one of my  personal favorites.
The love for the  form of roses took lead and I ended up posting many sketches of roses depicting my higher love for colors.

It was impossible to neglect some very important days celebrated worldwide and when those days approached it was but natural to sketch something related to them; some of the sketches which depicted some important days were Valentine's Day, Women's Day, St. Patrick's Day and World Water Day.

Of all the posts, Woman has been the Queen of posts since the day I posted it. It definitely shows how the thinking of people is changing and today's generation is not revolting against competition from women.

The Journey-1

I finished posting 50 posts since February  2012 and enjoyed each and every step of the process.Picked up a few tips from veteran bloggers and felt encouraged by comments posted by friends and other audiences.Found new interesting blogs filled with creative writing and illustrations.Came across other people's ideas and varied forms of art.It has been a memorable journey, hope to keep traveling through the vast, never ending expanse of the virtual world. Here are some of the sketches which made me begin the great journey.

It all started with this sketch which was made as a birthday card for a friend. The  opening of the bottle led to the pouring of  the contents in a glass.....

.......and then followed the very predictable "getting tipsy" on the contents thought.

I started sketching everyday without any focus and just going with the flow, being a very impatient person, sketches which finished in a few strokes became my most favorite form and  thus originated the sweet tooth posts.
The first post was "enjoyed" very much by another friend who inspired me to make something just for her.

My mom became my most loyal follower and most serious critic, she thought I should finally spend some time learning to sketch rather than idly sketching without any intentions of actually making something.Though she ended up liking three of the quickest sketches I ever produced.

It was supposed to be a platform for sketches but the blog demanded some content from me as well. "A picture is worth a thousand words" but the "web spiders" did not believe in this adage. So here I am, writing and sketching and in general feeding my own creative appetite.

Vibrant India

You can love India, hate India but can never be indifferent to her. The culture, the art, craft, textiles, traditions, colors; everything is like a bolt of lightning. The senses have to be at their maximum alert when you go shopping, decision making becomes really tough and one feels like buying the whole “bazaar”. Men choose to stay away from women who are almost driven to eccentricity while choosing clothes, shoes, accessories, even the house hold items like baskets can throw you in a frenzy. Colors and patterns are striking and vibrant. The word “delightful” finds a new meaning here, everything gives pleasure; every stall is a visual treat. India is like a woman whose core essence is being vibrant.

Vibrant India- Fabrics

Fabrics in India are as varied as the people and the region they live in. India has a diverse climate and different fabrics, different styles of printing and embroidery   is popular in different states and regions. The way people wear clothes, the materials they use change with the language they speak which is sometimes between two neighboring towns or villages also. Cotton is by far the most popular material.

Embroidery In india can be identified by its style, color combinations, the threads used, material used. The bed sheet here is made of an embroidery style called "Ari".It is typically done by stretching the whole sheet on a frame and using along needle.beads, sequins and various other embellishments are sometimes used to make it more attractive.

There are many types of embroideries which are world famous, one of them being the embroidery from Kashmir. There are many different forms of embroideries in Kashmir, one of them is called “kashida”, different threads are used depending upon how refined the design is, wool, pashmina and leather threads are used and the motifs are drawn from the nature.

These fabrics are from the state of Punjab and the embroidery is called "Phulkari". Phulkari work is done mostly by silk threads and it has a lot of shine, texture, sequins and colors.
